Processing and Quality
Buying pulses is straightforward. Delivering the same specification consignment after consignment is not, and it is decided entirely at the processing stage.
We run a complete line at Ratlam. Nothing is outsourced.
Our equipment
Cleaner
Removes dust, chaff, husk and light impurities
De-stoner
Removes stones, mud balls and heavy foreign matter
Grader
Screens and calibrates to size, which is what determines the grade and the price on Kabuli chana
Gravity separator
Separates by density, removing immature, shrivelled and damaged grain that screening alone will not catch
Colour sortex
Removes discoloured, damaged and off-colour grain optically

Frequently asked questions
01What does colour sortex remove?
Discoloured, stained, damaged and off-colour grain, along with any remaining foreign material that matches the grain by size and weight but not by colour. It catches what screening and gravity separation cannot.
02What is the difference between machine-cleaned and sortex-sorted?
Machine-cleaned material has passed through cleaning, de-stoning and grading, which removes dust, stones, chaff and off-size grain. Sortex-sorted material has additionally passed optical colour sorting, giving a visibly more uniform product.
03What does a gravity separator do?
It separates grain by density, removing immature, shrivelled, insect-damaged and hollow grain that is the correct size but underweight. Screening alone will not catch these.
04Is any processing outsourced?
No. Cleaning, de-stoning, grading, gravity separation and colour sortex all run at our own facility in Ratlam.
05How is traceability maintained?
Every consignment carries a lot reference linking it back to the purchase batch and the processing run, maintained through to despatch.
06Can third-party laboratory testing be arranged?
Yes. Analysis from an accredited laboratory and pre-shipment inspection by a buyer-nominated agency can both be arranged.
